Pen pals in Alabama
Barringer Road Elementary fourth grade teacher, Ms. Ciaccia was recently contacted with a request from an old friend from high school. The friend’s son and his fourth grade class in Alabama were interested in writing to pen pals…and so it began!
Just before Christmas, Ms. Ciaccia’s reading students received their first correspondence. Since then, students have re-written to their new friends twice and received two letters in return each as well.
Ms. Ciaccia’s students are realizing that kids in Alabama are the same as they are…except that they are very interested in seeing snow. Unfortunately, we could not help them out with pictures of snow this year. Students did send pictures of themselves to their pen pals though. It was exciting for the students to put a face with the names of their new friends.
The students look forward to a possible Skype session with our pen pals later on this year!! Below is a photo of Ms. Harvey and her class, Ms. Ciaccia's class pen pals from Alabama.
