Animal shelter supplies collected
During the month of December, second grade classes at Barringer Road School participated in a project to benefit the animals at the Herkimer County Humane Society.
A collection of needed supplies was started with the second grade students, and then they decided to invite the entire school to participate. As a group, hundreds of items were collected including bedding, food, and toys to help enrich the lives of the dogs and cats that call the Herkimer County Humane Society their home.
Not only did this project benefit the animals, but it was also a benefit to our students. Students learned about kindness and put that into practice by donating items for the animals. It was wonderful to see the compassion and concern that each child showed for the shelter dogs and cats.
Teachers, staff, and students brought in pictures of themselves with their pets to encourage donations and were put on display with the donations. Thank you to everyone who sent in items to donate to help out this great organization.
