Merger vote fails—Ilion & Mohawk voters approve, but Herkimer
On Thursday, Oct. 18, Ilion and Mohawk
approved the proposed three-school merger, but Herkimer voters rejected

With Herkimer's failure to approve the proposal, the
merger process now stops. Under current State Education regulations,
Herkimer residents have the option to revote as early as Oct. 19,
2013. In the meantime, the districts will continue to operate as

Superintendent Cosimo Tangorra.
Mr. Tangorra said the Ilion and Mohawk boards of education
will now look at any and all options available to preserve their
academic and extracurricular programs.
