Student assignments can now be viewed
Ever wonder how your child's grades are throughout the quarter? Wish you knew what assignments were missing before you received the progress report? Now is your chance to know!
On November 28, Ilion Jr.-Sr. High School opened up the assignment section in Parent Portal. Parents are now able to view student assignments, quizzes, and tests as they are graded throughout the quarter for all courses.
When will I see the grades?
Teachers will post assignments and grades as soon as they can and the timeframe may vary. Keep in mind that lengthier, more detailed assignments such as projects, essays, and research papers will take more time to grade and post.
How come the grades are different for some courses?
Teacher's grading policies may vary and they will calculate grades differently. On the Assignment tab you will see a max score and a student score. Some assignments or tests may also be weighted differently and count as double or a percentage of their final grade.
Parents should contact their child's teachers for specifics on the grading policy or for questions regarding assignments. Parents may also visit the teacher's website for information on their grading policy.
How can I view a specific course?
On the Assignments tab you will see a drop down list of choices to choose a specific class called "Courses". The default is All Courses, but if you click on the drop down arrow, you will see a listing of all your child's classes to choose from which will show only grades and assignments for that course.
Other Parent Portal information
Help page icon - you will see a red circle with a question mark icon in each section of Parent Portal. If you click on this it will give you a general explanation of what you are looking at on the screen.
Print icon - when you see the printer icon displayed, you are able to print from the screen you are looking at. For example, on the grades tab you will print a copy of the report card, the schedule tab will give you a copy of the student's schedule.
Assessments - The Assessments tab will show your child's scores on grades 3-8 New York State testing for each year they were taken.
Attendance - Your child's attendance is still accessible. The prior day's attendance shows, it is not real time.

Daily Attendance - On the Daily Attendance radio button you will see full day absences as well as late arrivals and early outs.

Missed Course Attendance - On the Missed Course Attendance radio button you will see any classes your child missed when they were not absent from school. This could include visits to the nurse or office, music lessons, etc. The absence will be marked skipped class, legitimate or will indicate a specific reason for the missed course.
Contact teachers - If you have questions for your child's teacher, you can contact them via email directly under the Schedule tab. An envelope will appear next to each teacher's name. Click on the envelope of the teacher you want to send an email to or click the one at the top next to Teacher and you will email all teachers at once. A copy of your email is sent to the email address on file for your records.
Census Data - You can view your child's census information including contact informaiton, addresses, etc. It is important that this information is updated as it changes so the school can contact parents and guardians. Please submit any changes via email to parentportal@ilioncsd.org.

Once you are registered, you account will remain each school year unless you contact us to cancel it. Please notify the Parent Portal Manager at parentportal@ilioncsd.org with any email changes to set up a new account.
