Sunday, October 16, 2011 marked another successful Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk for Remington Elementary's team, Roadrunners Racing for a Cure.
The team held several fundraisers throught the fall with staff and students such as t-shirt sales, snack rack, baked goods, pink ribbons, stuffed animal raffle, lollipop sale, pumpkin decorating kit raffle, dress down days as well as personal donations. The team's hard work paid off as they were able to donate $2,346 to the American Cancer Society!
The event was held at the Masonic Care Community in Utica. Participants had the choice of two routes to take the day of the event including a mini walk for 1 mile and a longer one that was 2.5 miles. Patrons were also able to purchase breast cancer awareness merchandise on "Strides Street" where they could also find refreshments and entertainment during the event. The American Cancer Society sponsors events like this across the country to raise funds toward saving lives and to end breast cancer. The Remington community always has a big heart when it comes to helping those in need! Thank you to everyone who helped support this cause.
